    Good Habits for Great Improvisers
Our new workshop series, Good Habits for Great Improvisers, is created to bring together performers for a fun-filled, challenging, opportunity to build and re-
discover good improvisational performance techniques. These workshops will re-enforce, demonstrate, and remind participants of the good habits that every
improviser should display in rehearsal and performance. We create a safe and playful environment in which experienced artists can feel comfortable being
‘students’. Our experienced teaching artists create curriculum that focus on learning by doing, constructive critique of self and others, and setting clear
individual and group goals. Some improvisational experience is recommended.
    Course Description:
The Basic Tools – focus on spontaneity, making others look good, building on ideas, and other foundation improv. ‘rules’. Build upon your strengths,
recognize those fundamentals you may be neglecting, and remind yourself or discover your personal blocks to being the best improviser you can be.
Storytelling in Improvisation – focus on the importance of storytelling and story structure in scene work. Practice finding your story and bringing it to its
logical conclusion, play with different styles and the techniques of various genres. Enjoy the comfort of story structure by finding, not forcing, compelling arcs
within your stories. Emphasis on unexpected perspectives and natural endings.
Characters and Relationships in Improvisation – focus on creating, exploring, and developing unique and interesting characters with unusual and
motivating relationships. Challenge yourself to create surprising, whole, and grounded characters existing in relationships that go beyond the ‘usual’. We
guarantee you will portray characters in this class you never have before.
Music in Improvisation, Parts 1 & 2implementation and practice of musical devices, techniques, and singing in improvisational theatre. Explore all of the
ways in which music can breath life into your improv. and vise versa. Part 1 will focus on improv games based in music. Part 2 will teach students to apply these
games to specific musical styles (improvisers that pre-register may request a specific style). Guest musician/instructor Victor Speigel.
Putting It All Togethertake everything practiced throughout the workshops and put it into a show for ourselves and invited guests. We’ll strut our stuff and
practice what we’ve learned with feedback, laughs, and lots of fun.
