EDUCATION

Comments collected by/for a third party regarding a training session for elementary school teachers.  Kimberly MacLean worked with educators using
improvisation and theatre techniques to address their particular needs and give them exercises focused on immediate use in their classrooms. February 2006.

  • "I was a little nervous, but am amazed by how applicable this is to my classroom. I cannot wait to use them and Kimberly made it so accessible, fun, and easy for me."
  • "I love these exercises, especially the Language Arts.  It will be fun for me to teach these old lessons with new tricks."
  • "I have used some of these [exercises] already after Kimberly modeled them in my classroom and cannot believe how well the kids respond to them.  More, more, more,
    teach me more!"

New, Improv'd - Act it out in Livermore
, by Kelly Vance
"Improv comedy and acting classes are big and getting bigger in the East Bay. It's a good way for young people with an interest in performing to channel their energies and soak
up a lot of experience in a short amount of time. Antioch's Delta City Improv, which has been teaching improv and theater arts to kids and teens for years, is partnering with the
Livermore Academy of Performing Arts in offering summer sessions for adults as well as youths, at the academy."

"My cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. I love you guys!"- Elaine, student

"We have been using many of the ideas you taught us. Especially useful are the ideas of making your partner look good and of building upon the ideas of others. These
recommendations have been referred to in our group brainstorming sessions. Thank you so much." - Joy L. Instructor of the Middle School Writers Workshop

"Thank you, thank you, for the fun, I thought I was going to cry, we were so sad when you were done, I wish we didn't have to say good bye! Thank you for the fun. I had fun!" -
Christine L., age 9

Laugh Jobbers, by Kelly Vance
"Mystery theaters are big these days. The wacky performers of Delta City Improv know this well, and so they've devised Improvised Mystery Theatre , in which Deltoids Kenn
Adams and Kimberly MacLean take audience suggestions and make up a whodunit on the spot. Then the audience has to solve the mystery. Delta's motto: "No Scripts, No
Second Chances, No Two Shows Are Ever the Same!" Delta has also planned ahead enough to answer its most FAQ with the title of the show, This Is Our Day Job! Catch the
